Weekly Update, 7.18.14

The eagle(s) have landed! We arrived Thursday early morning around 2:30 in the morning after almost 30 hours of travel.  The flight to Seattle was great, the flight to Shanghai was awesome (this was the kiddos favorite flight), the flight to Shenyang was great, and the two hour ride to Dandong was also great.  The best part?.. was that ALL our luggage made it!

Three employees from the school met us at the airport, loaded two cars and drove us to a really nice hotel in Dandong.  We slept for about three hours and met the principal, assistant principal, office manager, fellow teacher, and a few other employees for breakfast at 7:30 the next morning.  We then left breakfast and walked to our temporary housing and got our phones set-up.  So far, Nathan and the kids all have new Chinese cell phones with all the EBIS employees numbers programmed in them.  We then had lunch with the crew at Peter’s Cafe, an expat coffee shop ran by a Canadian.  A tour of the school was up next and we were astounded at how beautiful the school is! Last year they only had 20 students, they are hoping for more this upcoming year.  In Luka’s class it will only be him and one other student! We then headed to the grocery/store mall where our assist. principal showed us the around.  We were all exhausted by then and headed back to our hotel.

Jet lag woke us up at about 3:30am this morning.  Nathan and I went to work out and will head back downstairs for another breakfast with our new school family.  Today’s agenda includes setting up bank accounts, making sure our phones are all working, moving into our temporary housing, and going to the Dandong international beer festival! I am really excited for that!

We’ll stay in touch as we can! (Hopefully today we can set up our VPN so we’ll have internet in our temp. housing.

With much love, Yaisa
