I sure hope that we don't make complete fools of ourselves...We've basically told the world that we're moving abroad this upcoming summer but have yet to secure employment. We've discovered that the decision to move abroad was the EASY step. Finding a job that will give us Visas', finding a family friendly place to live, and finding a school that will take in our kiddos are the HARD steps.
Regardless, we're moving ahead. Thus far, we've sold our Jeep and most of the frivolous stuff that we've accumulated over the years. We now have a room in the basement solely dedicated to collecting items that we're going to sell in a huge garage sale this summer. I do have to say that this process has been wonderful. We were by no means hoarders, but did have items in closets and cabinets that we never used. Why??? I'm finding great value in only keeping things we use and de-cluttering our lives. For me, the freedom gained and the empowerment earned by only living with what you need has been a welcomed lesson.
The kiddos are also adjusting well. Getting rid of t.v. has been a non-issue and often times they don't even notice when their dad and I go into their rooms and throw things away. They too, it seems, are finding peacefulness in relationships, activities, and togetherness, rather than stuff.
Part of this process is letting go of the cool things that we accumulated in our adult life, including this Jeep. Later Jeep...
